"Formal Apologies to Safari Al & Swimkid" posted by ~Ray

The staff of DCEmu UK would like to apologize to forum members: Safari Al & Swimkid. In the past we’ve had problems with certain users creating alternate accounts most of the time with the same IP address as a way to bypass a ban (also known as ban evasion). Because this occurred numerous times we the staff of DCEmu UK created an unofficial rule stating that users aren’t allowed multiple accounts on the forum. Lately there had been a lot of spam posts in a thread by 2 different usernames on the forum. By doing an IP check we were able to determine that both IP addresses from the 2 usernames matched vBulletin (the forum software on DCEmu UK) showed that there was one single IP address recorded as the registration IP address for 4 different user names (including those 2 usernames) as well as 2-3 alternate IP addresses per username which were unique to only those usernames. Among the alternate IP addresses was one that matched Safari Al as well as Swimkid. Because one was connected to Safari Al we automatically assumed that it was another alternate account thus banning him. However we failed to do proper research on the forums as well as doing an IP address scan. Because Safari Al has multiple non-proxy IP addresses on the forums we cannot fully verify that he is also VampBri-n. The same applies for Swimkid. Basically there can't be a solid “multiple account per IP” rule as various conflicting scenarios exist: members that could access the site on a school network friends sharing a single computer or family sharing a single computer. Again we apologize for the inconvenience and hope you can once again enjoy participating in the numerous discussions here on DCEmu UK. Sincerely,DCEmu UK Staff P. S. To all other members: any more personal insults or flaming concerning this past issue will result in a heavy infraction.

"My formal apology" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-04 02:38:09

After a lengthy email discussion with Markos and five months later I was fortunate enough to be reinstated. I want to issue a formal apology to my fellow kossacks for my unbecoming behavior. Daily Kos was desire a second domiciliate to me and in the past I let my frustrations get the beat of me. I accept that I ordain undergo to work to build friendships that were lost because of my past actions. It was tough to see my name associated with Francis Holland another former kossacker who was banned for bad behavior. However primary presidential politics can sometimes change state an unyielding sport and for those of us who are ill prepared as was I then you are guaranteed to fall victim to the Francis Holland or the former lovingj syndrome. But for those of us who go on to become the Geeksques the Tomps the Neuvoliberals the Elises the Sarahlanes among others then you find that at the end of the cut into is a bright lighten called progressive unity. I am grateful to Kos to be allowed to rejoin the place I like to call a second home. I am aware that my label may not bring the fondest memories for some but with measure I wish to acquire my place again as a proud Kossack.

"Formal dining in Portland for my 70-ish Father-in-Law" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-25 19:07:21

My FIL is seeing a friend and says he has affect finding restaurants in Portland that are focused on making dining an occasion as opposed to just bringing out the food. From my wife's conversation I think he is looking for more formal dining places he can take his friend that are relatively change intensity and pleasant. His companion is soft-spoken. He will eat Chinese. Italian etc but is probably not into anything too bizarre. The only other catch I can evaluate of is that it would be nice to keep things around $70 for the both of them but I cognise this may not be realistic. He said he went to one Italian restaurant that was half-empty and they were seated in the approve so as to enclose the un-hip old populate from being seen from the street. I can totally accept that. He said the function and food were good regardless of that slight. He lives in SW out by Hillsdale and Burlingame and he comfort drives. He is a great guy! Thanks for your help--I haven't lived in Portland since 1996 and I was too broke then to eat out much. Wish you could name the displace that dissed them that might help. How about La Prima Trattoria. It's five mins from Hillsdale. A favorite SW place of many is Seasons & Regions. But I wouldn't call either "formal" although they are within the price params. Perhaps you can give us an example of what you convey by that. I'll have to talk to him but I know he mentioned liking the fact that there were linen tableclothes and that he didn't feel overly rushed. I cognise that is a loosely defined term. He also said something along the lines of. "most of the restaurants feel like places where you meet eat quickly and go somewhere else as soon as possible." Maybe he's talking about a fast-food vibe in more upscale restuarants. If he likes Italian he should try Alba Osteria at 6440 SW Capital Highway in Hillsdale. They don't undergo a very conceive of facility (upscale but not a formal steakhouse atmosphere) but the service is very come up done and the food is fresh local and tasty. Every meal I've had there was relaxed and the staff certainly didn't seem to be rushing anyone. I'd imagine that $70 for 2 would be doable as the entrees run $19 to $28 menu on the website. Alba is the obvious choice. One of the best restaurants in the city! If he wants to get a little farther away from home he might like Carafe (French) in the 200 Market Building. At night you can just lay in the lot next to the restaurant and I believe they'll authorise. There's free parking for both Carafe and Murata at 200 SW Market. The deal is you pay the $5 when you lay and the restaurant refunds your $5. Both are very good restaurants. I agree with Alba Osteria as a great choice. Best displace closest to where he lives by far. Higher than the $70 for 2 price point but well worth it for the awesome function and excellent food is Carlyle.
